People celebrate this occasion on the second Sunday of May, and this year it's on May 10th.
2. Ancient Greece held the earliest celebrations for mothers.
That's right! In honour of Rhea, the goddess of motherhood and fertility, there would be a celebration every spring.
3. On Mother's Day, others get the appreciation, too!
Traditionally, moms are the ones who receive cards and flowers from their children. But recently, the tradition of gift-giving extends to wives, sisters, mother-in-law, and grandmothers. It's incredible to see people spread the love!
4. Carnations have specific meanings on Mother's Day
Historically, pink or red carnations are used to honour mothers on this holiday. White carnations are meant to remember a mother who passed away.

While healthcare workers worked long shift without breaks, they were sadly shun upon by certain group of people. There were reported cases of healthcare workers forced out of public transport because they were wearing their uniforms. These harassment act spurred many people to contribute to healthcare workers in every way possible.
At Little Florist Dream, we believe in women empowerment as well as appreciation of our healthcare workers. Thus, we did what we do best on International Women's Day- putting a smile on peoples' faces :). We decided to give away free flower bouquets to healthcare workers as an appreciation for their dedication and perseverance during this trying period.
We arrived at link bridge between Tan Tock Seng Hospital and U2 Square at 6.45am in an attempt to catch the shift change over time. We were glad to meet the healthcare workers, both going to work and going home. Many were happy to receive the flowers and thanked us for the appreciation. The flower bouquets were all given away within 45 minutes. We were contented that our small action was able to bring happiness to people and make their day brighter.
]]>1. Aspirin
Many have tried and it seems that aspirin is the magic that keep roses and other cut flowers fresh longer. Simply put a ground aspirin in the water before adding your flowers and voila, the blooms will rise and shine for the next few days. Also, don’t forget to change the water afterwards.
2. Soda
Pour about 1/4 cup of soda into the water in the vase and witness the amazingly longer time it can help your blooms last. Yes, the sugar in the soda will help your cut flowers remain fresh for several days. Use Sprite or 7-Up for crystal clear water effect!
3. Apple Cider Vinegar and Sugar
This is a powerful method to keep your blooms firm and rising for a long time. Simply mix 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar and 2 tablespoons sugar with the room temperature in a vase before adding the flowers. Make sure you have time to change the water with new mix every few days to have a long-lasting effect.
4. Flower Food
This is one of the most accessible and convenient way to keep your flowers fresh longer. You only need to fill your vase with room temperature water and add in a packet of flower food. Mix the flower food with water following the instruction from the back of the package. Make sure that it's not too concentrated!
5. Fridge
Sounds extreme? But in fact, it works for most flowers since they survive better in cooler temperature! Lower temperature is believed to stop your flowers from aging. Put your bouquet in the fridge every day around 6-8 hours, preferable before bedtime, and you can see the immediate effect. No space in the fridge at home? An air-conditioned room will do fine.
